The Joint Opposition’s dream of toppling of the Government came crashing down with the failure of their ‘Janabalaya Kolambata’ protest rally, Minister of Home Affairs Vajira Abeywardana said.

The Joint Opposition (JO) had booked 15 rooms at the Shangri – La Hotel near the Galle Face green for the occasion, the Minister noted.

“In addition to reserving rooms at the Shangri-la Hotel – which was constructed on Defence Ministry land sold to the Chinese by the Rajapaksa regime, the Joint Opposition also booked three rooms each at the Taj Hotel and the Hilton Hotel as well,” Minister Abeywardana said.

The Minister said that all the plans of the leaders of the former regime, who stole from the people for nine years, were dismantled with the unsuccessful rally.

The Minister further said the failure of the Janabalaya protest clearly indicated that without Basil Rajapaksa there was no future for the Joint Opposition or the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
