High Court grants relief to former Colombo Magistrate

Colombo High Court Judge Manilal Waidyathilaka, today granted relief on a revision application on bail conditions, submitted by former Colombo Magistrate, Thilina Gamage.Suspect Gamage is being prosecuted in the Gangodawila, Nugegoda, Magistrate’s Court, on the suspicion of having possessed an unlicensed elephant, in breach of the Public Property Act. The
Nugegoda magistrate, when granting bail to Gamage, ordered him to report to the CID, every Sunday.
Yesterday Counsel, Ajith Pathirana who appeared for Thilina Gamage told the High Court, that his client, had up to now reported every week to the CID, for six months. Counsel wanted, a concession
for his client. The High Court Judge in granting relief ordered that Gamage should report, on the last Sunday of each month to the CID, instead of reporting every Sunday as done up to date, for six
months.
