There are attempts to sabotage development drive, says PM

July 31, 2016

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that there is a commitment to develop the country, and once it is developed, to engage in multi-party politics but after all of this is done there are attempts to sabotage it as well.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the months long Nila Mehewara Mobile Service Programme in Polonnarawa Royal College on Saturday, the Prime Minister said: “So this is no surprise. Even King Parakramabahu created a massive kingdom. But after all this, Queen Sugala from Hambantota staged a riot and that riot was completely unsuccessful.”

He said that such things had happened in the past as well, and it is happening in the present too, and it cannot be stopped. But what can be done is ‘sticking together’ and taking this journey forward.
