The United Kingdom has increased the number of Chevening scholarships for Sri Lanka, for the second consecutive year.
The increase in awards was announced at a reception hosted at the British High Commissioner’s Residence on 1st September, where eight Sri Lankan scholars were presented with their certificates.
This year’s scholars will travel to the UK on fully funded scholarships to read for one year Masters courses in Politics, Environmental Design and Engineering, Finance, International Business and Management, Law, Development and Globalization, and Gender Studies.
These scholarships represent a significant investment from the UK Government to help develop the next generation of leaders in Sri Lanka.
“As Chevening Scholars, these students will enjoy a world-class education at globally respected universities in the UK. They will develop relationships with members of an international network of almost 50,000 influential alumni, with whom they can share the things that Sri Lanka has to offer. On their return they will be able to draw on everything that they have learned”, High Commissioner to Sri Lanka James Dauris said.
Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential who also have strong academic backgrounds. The scholarships offer financial support to study for a master’s degree at any UK university.
The application window for the 2017/2018 academic cycle is now open for talented young Sri Lankan graduates who wish to pursue Masters courses at universities in the UK. More details at http://www.chevening.org/apply.
