Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said in Parliament that a corporation set up by the Sri Lankan government with Chinese officers would control the Colombo Port City. He said all service supplies to the Port City would be done by the Colombo Municipal Council and the controlling body would be set up as an incorporated institution through an act of parliament.

He said that night race track and the casino city proposed by the previous regime in the Colombo Port City proposal had been removed from the original plan.

He said that a new Environmental Impact Assessment on the project had been obtained.
