Sagala to transform police to serve ordinary people

Sri Lanka Police would be transformed in the coming years as it being the need of the time to salute innocent and poor people of the country with due dignity, but not to politicians or the rich, Law and Order and Southern Development Minister Sagala Ratnayake said on Tuesday.

Minister Ratnayake addressing a ceremony at the launch of police logo for the 150 year anniversary of the service themed ‘Journey Par Excellence (celebrating 150 years 1866-2016)’ held at the police Finger Print Department, Colombo 07.

“Police Department will be changed as Sri Lanka Police as requested by the IGP after getting the approval of President Maithripala Sirisena and Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe. Some more police units will also be added such as cybercrimes like the FCID due to the need of the time,” the minister said.
